I have been really talking up my Amiga lately. This is because until I moved out, it was in a kind of storage. But now that the table it was is here with me, we moved the Amiga to my PC’s old desk in my room.
This has really given me a chance to explore it and relive some key moments in my life. Ahh sitting down and looking at a screen while pressing some buttons, truly the best of times. I took a couple of photos of it today, and I thought they illustrated two things that are very different in the gaming world today.
You barely even get one disk of ANYTHING now! You’re looking at about 10mb of data there.
Sounds crazy to pay for a demo? But in the pre-WWW days that was one of the few ways you could play them. Most of my Amiga Power demo disks are in that pile there, some of them containing the best games I have ever played. Ahh Yo! Joe! demo, your music will live in my brain forever.
I’m sure I’ll explore both of these little stories more fully in the future, been busy with work and recovering from some computer-box problems. Delays and excuses as always!
